The United States Census Bureau is going high-tech and moving away from hectic paper work. During a census survey, paper census questionnaires are the toughest labouring task to fulfill. However, the U.S. Census bureau plans to apply the technology of the web for the United States next major survey and people will be able to respond through their laptops, smartphones and tablets.

Almost around 250,000 households in the U.S. have already filled their online census questionnaires. People have taken to the idea very positively in the U.S. and prefer using the internet for such a purpose. Because, earlier they had to fill it by hand and had to return it through the postal service.

This new going-tech idea for the government departments has taken much speed during the current administration and seeing it, other governments are also inspired. There is no doubt that technology is the way to go in these fast times of quick communication. Pakistan is also following in these steps, albeit slowly.

he U.S. Census Bureau developed its online questionnaire after a lot of research into how people responded to different questions and checking their eye-movements. The online version takes around 40 minutes to complete and asks for pin numbers and other special codes to access secured pages.

At least the environmentalists will be happy that papers are being saved and in turn trees are being protected. It has also saved a lot of financial spending on part of the government with one household costing $96 to the census surveys.

Google is known to be very adamant about keeping things related to its name only for itself. Recently, it asked Language Council of Sweden not to enter the word “Ogooglebar” in Swedish language dictionaries. In Swedish it means “something that cannot be found on the web using a search engine”.

The language council considered the word for inclusion, but then Google entered into the picture and asked not to, until its meaning has been made more favourable to the company. Since Google is the world’s largest search engine and claims that nothing escapes its domain and one can find anything about anything just by simply using the search tool bar.

How can it be that something that can’t be found on the web using a search engine is “Ogooglebar” in Swedish language then? But, what the Google’s legal experts want the word to now mean is not any search engine, but Google’s search engine. Thus, it must mean something that cannot be found on the Web using Google. The trick here is in denying that there are any other search engines.

So if someone is using search engine like Yahoo!, but wants to express this idea that he or she did not find something on the web despite making a search for it online, it must be Google and none other. A bit of silly idea, but one which Google wants to promote. Hence, Google is proposing use the word “Ogooglebar” with a Google trademark so that people will know it is a trademarked company.

Nokia introduced its newest Symbian software update, called Symbian Anna.Nokia X7-00, the latest Nokia mobile phone that carries the Symbian Anna OS.Nokia announced that it will start shipping Nokia N8s, E7s, C7s and C6-01s with Symbian Anna in July. If you already own one of these devices, you can download the software by the end of August. Upgrading to a ‘new look’ phone is free and easy. You can update your device with your PC or over-the-air from the software updater in the phone. The Symbian Anna upgrade gives you a set of new icons, a faster web browser, improved text input and enhanced maps. In other words, your phone will get a free make-over, giving you a better experience while remaining reliable and easy to use.

The Best part of Symbian Anna is split screen view while typing, so users can see their message thread. Business users will benefit from instant messaging with Microsoft Communicator Mobile, email enhancements including full meeting request support, and true business grade security with hardware accelerated encryption. There is also easy and secure intranet access for people who want to get on their company intranet. The social client has been improved as well. Now you can see people’s status updates in their contact card, as well as retweet and view your follower list in Twitter.

Google is taking its +1 feature beyond search results and launching a button that publishers can include on their own websites.
The button, which debuted in March in Google search, will compete with the likes of the already ubiquitous sharing buttons offered by Facebook and Twitter (and more recently Tumblr and LinkedIn) for web page real estate.
The +1 button will begin appearing Wednesday on a number of select publishers, though the code is now freely available to anyone.
As with most other sharing buttons, setting up the +1 button on your website is straightforward. Google has created a simple tool that lets you choose from a number of sizes and styles, and then provides the appropriate JavaScript code that you can cut and paste into your site.

Google’s hoping that +1’s integration in search results will make it an attractive option to publishers, which stand to gain more traffic when their visitors start “+1ing” content. Google articulates this benefit in a blog post: “The next time your connections are searching, they could see your +1’s directly in their search results.”

For now though, +1 remains an experimental feature that Google search users need to opt in to. You’ll only start to see your friends’ recommendations next to search results once you’ve opted in and are signed into your Google account. Presently, it’s also only available on English-language search results.

Security experts warning to Netizens that online scammers may seek to exploit the death of Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden to spread malware has come true.

According to security firm Websense, the website of Sohaib Athar (@ReallyVirtual), the man who unknowingly gave live ring-side view of the bin Laden’s death on microblogging site Twitter, has been hacked.

Websense has discovered that the website belonging to Athar has been compromised by hackers and leads to the Blackhole exploit kit. This means Web surfers who visited Athar’s blog, Reallyvirtual.com, early on Monday may have malware silently installed on their computers.

According Websense, “Anyone going to this page would also load content from the malicious URL …, and the Blackhole Exploit Kit would then try to use several exploits to automatically install malware on the PC.”

The malware that the drive-by-download attempts to install is a fake system tool named ‘WindowsRecovery’ that claims to have found problems on the victim’s computer. To convince the user that something really is wrong with the system, the malware hides all files and folders in the hard drives and on the desktop says Websense in its blogpost.

And, not surprisingly, scammers offer the user a quick solution to this problems with a purchase of the premium version of ‘WindowsRecovery’, adds the blog post.
