Telenor Pakistan

Telenor, one of largest telecom industry in Pakistan started its operations since 2001 and has been providing excellent services to its customers. Just like Mobilink, telenor is also GSM based cellular service of Pakistan. Having a large workforce and millions of customers, telenor has successfully gained a huge market expansion in Europe and Asia. During the last few years list of telenor customers has been increasing devastatingly due to the quality of data, variety of packages and best communication network. It has attained a great advantage in retaining the existing customers as well as attracting new customers.

Telenor has announced an expected increase in charges of its new and replaceable sims from the start of next year. The increase in charges was published on telenor website on 11^th dec 2012 and the range of increase is from 100 to 150 per SIM. For example, a regular SIM which was sold for rupees one hundred will now be availale on rupees 200. Similarly, old price of premium sim pack was rupees 300 and, with an addition of 100 rupees, now it would be sold at rupees 400 from now onwards. Same is the case with the normal prepaid sim, number choice sim (if you want a sim card of your own choosed number) and value sim pack, all with an increase of 100 rupees. However, there is an increase of rupees 40 at replacement sim pack which was previously sold at rupees 60, will now be sold at 100. This news has created an impulse of curiosity among its customers and competitors that why telenor Group has decided to do so? Well, there are certain ambiguities in minds of customers and competitors as to the reason of this increase.

According to a source, it has been revealed that a possible reason for this sudden enhancement in sim charges is the quality issues that have been arising in telenor group due to large number of customers and complicated network of packages. So, as always, telenor prefers to maintain the quality instead of increasing number of customers.

It may also be said that this is done basically to ensure the safe selling of SIMS. As per the rule of PTA, no SIM can be sold from any other shop except original franchise. Also, PTA ordered that any SIM card would be sold only after taking NIC copy of the buyer along with his/her thumb impression. Telenor increased the charges to make it unprofitable for the retailers to sell any SIM and in this way PTA rule will be applicable that there would be no retailer selling the SIMS in the market or directly to the customers.

Well, according to my view point, telecom industries should also focus on enhancing charges of the night calls and SMS as they are just spoiling our young generation. So, a mere increase in prices of new sims would not help the society.

PTA (Pakistan telecommunication authority) issued a final warning to every one who have a valid CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card), that you must take yourself ensure that you and your family do not get punished for a crime that you have not been a part of. You must at this very moment,

1. Send your CNIC number in a free SMS to 668 and find out how many SIMs per operator are registered in your name. Or you can check it online by visiting here
2. Immediately visit the customer service centre or franchise or call the help line or UAN  of the respective cellular company with your original CNIC and inform their representative about the number that you wish to retian. They will block all other SIMs except your own.

This is a ver small effort that can safeguard your loved ones from the trauma of an undeserved penalty.

Nokia & djuice Developers Workshop in Islamabad‏

With a vision to cater to the lower segment of the market, Nokia Pakistan and djuice have joined hands to start a series of Developer Workshops that aim to provide training focused on S40 devices. The workshop was recently held at Telenor’s Regional Head Office, Islamabad and included developers from SEECS, NUST University as well as some SMEs. Faisal Iqbal, Mobile Specialist at Orison Technologies imparted training to the participants and shared the details of development tools available for game development with QML.
