Social Networking With the Samsung Transform

by Asad Ahmad - on Jun 22nd 2011 - No Comments

Staying connected is extremely important, especially in the world that we live in. When many companies try to make so many trivial and questionable claims, there is one company that stuck with everything every single time: Samsung. With their 4G network and scores of models, the Samsung Transform has become one of the most popular cell phones and social networking devices available. Although the phone already comes with a pretty sleek design and look, there are a number of accessories that still could be purchased so you can customize your phone even further, giving it your own personalized feel.

The Samsung Transform is carried through the phone service provider, Sprint, and the device uses the Android 2.1 technology as its application base. As many other phones, the Samsung Transform offers its owners a number of applications for anything from checking the weather to tuning a guitar.

Along with user applications, the amount of games one can install may seem endless as Samsung makes its electronic components capable of running almost any gaming software available. Perhaps the one drawback to Samsung’s Transform is the Spring applications that it has, which tend to bog down the speed of the phone. However, almost any phone programmer can eliminate the useless Spring applications, which is said to make the Samsung Transform one of the fastest phones available after ridding itself of the Sprint monkey.

There are a number of Samsung Transform accessories that can be purchased for the Transform. Since this phone has the capability of transforming itself into a multimedia player, there are many accessories that revolve around this fact. For instance, many people enjoy using the clear platform case that allows the Transform to stand on its own when viewing movies. There are also fully amplified speakers that you can hook up to your phone as well. For those who use the phone in places where there needs to be quiet, there are a number of ear phones that can be purchased for this particular model. In situations where privacy is an issue, there is also the revolutionary new development of privacy screens. The Samsung Transform can now be used anywhere without fear of lurking eyes with the Samsung Transform Privacy Screen Protector. This device allows only the direct user to view items on the screen, and anyone else looking in from the side will only see gray.

Giving your Samsung Transform a more personalized look is also very easy. A Samsung Transform case is one of the most popular ways to personalize one’s phone. These cases come in a variety of styles such as pink, green, leopard print, and a number of other customized colors. Not only do these cases offer style and personalization to the Samsung Transform, but they will also offer added protection to the phone itself. For those who find themselves in situations where the phone gets shuffled around, one of the many rubberized protectors may be the way to go. Some cases come with a rubber coating, which gives the phone some shock absorbing capabilities, just in case you end up dropping the phone.

Just like cases, screen protectors are a valuable accessory for high end cell phones such as the Samsung Transform. A Samsung Transform screen protector ensures that the user will always have a clear and crisp picture when viewing his or her phone. Screen savers are great for those who work in harsh elements as well as for those who simply carry the phone in his or her pocket. Screens can easily become scratched, which compromises the function of the phone. However, with a Samsung screen saver one will always have the sleek and smooth screen to gaze upon.

The first application we will talk about is Locale, this is a very useful application. It takes advantage of several different features such as Wi-Fi, GPS, and cell signal in order to continually adjust your phone’s settings based on your location and the time. The phone can be set up so that it will automatically shut off when you are at a work meeting or in a movie theater. Another cool features about this application is that it will also notify you when your phone needs to be charged.

Another excellent application is mShare. This program combines the advantages of FTP and chat, all on your Nexus S. This will let you transfer files from your computer to your smart phone. One of the best things about this application is the fact that it will work regardless of the size of the file.

For those working with a great deal of numbers in their work, Spreadsheet is an excellent program to take advantage of. This application gives you access to literally a hundred different spreadsheet commands. You can format, sort, and search your spreadsheet. The app will also allow you to download or send attachments though a separate application like Gmail. Files can be viewed and edited through the use of one of these secondary applications. All of these applications can be used by many smart phones but because the Nexus S has 1 GHz processor and 512 MB of RAM, it is the perfect candidate. Since the phone is quite expensive, it is important to take good care of it with Nexus S accessories like the Nexus S case. Most of these apps require touch screen capability, so you will also want to buy a Nexus S screen protector to ensure that the screen is protected from repeated use.

Stream Music With the HTC Evo

by Asad Ahmad - on Jun 12th 2011 - No Comments

One of the first apps you should think about for streaming music is Pandora. If you have this program installed you will not really need any other apps. It is probably the most popular music streaming app on the internet today, whether through smart phones or traditional internet browsers. Although Pandora can be accessed through your home computer having it on a mobile device gives you the option of listening to music wherever you go.

Pandora allows the user to make different radio stations that are customized and set to your preference. For example, if you are a fan of The Radio Dept., you can get Pandora to stream music related to The Radio Dept. or to other artists that are similar. If you are a current Pandora user, you can use your Android device (such as the HTC Evo) to log in and have portable access to every saved station you already created through your browser. Even if you don’t traditionally listen to the radio, Pandora makes it fun.

Rhapsody is also a very cool application. Rhapsody is also a free application that like Pandora has also gained much praise from cell phone users. When you download the Rhapsody app, you will have immediate access to a huge library of music that can be used for streaming through your smart phone.

With Rhapsody, you can also download all kinds of mp3s that sound good to you. The The Rhapsody music library contains over 9 million songs. If you want to subscribe and have access to the full catalog, you can pay $10 a month over the internet. This will also give you access to downloads and music videos, which can be handy for finding extra ways to pass the hours.

Finally, no matter which app you choose for your music streaming needs, you should consider spending some money on HTC Evo accessories. If you pick up something like an HTC Evo screen protector or an HTC Evo case, you can give your smart phone the protection it deserves without breaking your bank account.

Features of the Evo

by Asad Ahmad - on Jun 7th 2011 - No Comments

One of the best phones from Sprint is arguably the HTC Evo. Not only is it the best smart phone offered by Sprint, it is also one of the best Android powered devices on the cell phone market. This phone runs on the 4G network, which offers a significantly better experience than the 3G, running at a speed 10 times faster. 4G is new and is not yet available everywhere. This device will also require that customers purchase a $10 additional data pack, regardless if they are covered or not. This phone features a front facing camera as well as an eight mega-pixel camera, making video chat desirable. The wireless hotspot feature allows you to connect up to eight devices to the internet.

The Evo is fairly large for a cell phone in this day and age, but this shouldn’t be surprising given its capabilities. It weighs about six ounces, and it is nearly five inches tall. Still, the phone is fairly thin; half an inch. The size of the phone is somewhat forgivable given the size of the screen, which makes it possible to view most web pages with ease. The size alone of the touch screen makes the on-screen keyboard easily functional, competing with the iPhone. HTC Evo Accessories are fairly sparse in the package that comes with the phone, lacking even a HTC Evo screen protector and a HTC Evo case, but the capabilities of the phone itself make up for this for the most part.

The user interface is a modification of Android; known as HTC Sense. This is one of the most preferred modification applications of the operating system. Your schedule and email can be viewed through widgets that come ready with the phone. It informs you of the weather in your area, and allows you to organize your contacts into groups. Friend Stream keeps you updated on Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr, and just clicking on a contact lets you see all the recent communications you have had with them.

The phone originally came with Android 2.1 but it is now available on Android 2.2. In addition to Google Maps, animated wallpapers, and the ability to turn voice commands into text, the new operating system offers several other features. Believe it or not, this was the first device to have a specialized Youtube player and a large enough screen for watching HD videos. The included HDMI port allows you to stream your 720p videos to your HDTV. A 1.3 megapixel camera sits on the front of the phone, enabling video chat to take place, and the 8 megapixel camera is capable of recording high definition video and high quality photographs.

The 4G speeds are a drastic improvement over 3G, allowing download speeds up to ten times as fast. The wireless hotspot allows the phone to provide mobile internet access up to eight devices. Even with 4G, Sprint TV is a bit choppy and laggy. It is considered to be a little misleading since the $10 4G data package is mandatory with the phone. The wireless hotspot is a nice feature, but costing an additional thirty dollars in addition to the already steep 80 dollar data plan, it won’t be worth the cost for most people.

Batteries function for a long time up to twelve hours. Call clarity was very clear and the video recordings made from the phone were very impressive. The Evo can handle almost anything thrown at it with its 1 GHz processor.

It is really difficult to compete with a phone like the Evo. Because of the 4G network, it has many qualities that other devices do not. Its design, speed, memory, and viewing capabilities make other devices really envious. Along with features and accessories, users will find the Evo one of, if not the best smart phone out.

Is the Samsung Captivate Still Worth Using

by Asad Ahmad - on May 31st 2011 - No Comments

The Samsung Captivate is one of the best medium priced smart phones you can buy these days in the United States. If you buy it with a contract, you can have it for just under $200. It is interesting to note that the Samsung Captivate is part of Samsung’s Galaxy S line, which means there are several different clones of what is essentially the same phone, but marketed toward different cell carriers. While the Vibrant works under the T-Mobile network, and the Fascinate and Epic 4G run with Verizon and Sprint, the Captivate works with the AT&T network. Regardless of which you choose, you will want to use your Captivate in a variety of places, including in school settings. This article will describe the pros and cons of using the Samsung Captivate at school.

Perhaps the biggest pro of using the Samsung Captivate in school settings such as on a college campus is that you will have immediate access to the internet no matter where you are. In the current world that we live in, we are more connect than ever. And as a result of our current state of technology, it is pretty important to know how we can keep in touch in both, online and offline. With the Samsung Captivate, you can do just that.

Of course, you can also stay connected to other people through the desktop computers that will be found in any campus computer lab, and you can also use laptops to stay in touch with the latest happenings, which is probably the main way college students stay up to date on campuses these days. However, nothing beats the portability of a device that can fit in your pocket like a smart phone, and if you’re going to get a smart phone, you should get one that comes with an amazing display and a thin and sexy body such as the Samsung Captivate.

Perhaps the biggest drawback of using the Samsung Captivate at school isn’t a deficit of the phone itself but a limitation of the people who teach the classes themselves: college professors. More and more professors these days have begun to set rules in their classes restricting the degree to which cell phones and smart phones can be used.

This would not ordinarily be a problem, as cell phones have been around for a long time. However, Professors are finding students that text during class extremely annoying and distracting. There are many professors that have rules in their classes that if they discover you texting someone else on your smart phone, you will have to leave the class or even take a lower grade. Such rules and regulations are becoming more common across the board, and if you do not want to pay the penalty, you will either have to keep your Samsung Captivate on silent mode or keep from using it or bringing it to class at all. The choice is up to you.

Finally, in addition to considering the pros and cons of using a smart phone such as the Samsung Captivate in school, consider purchasing some Samsung Captivate accessories such as a Samsung Captivate case or a Samsung Captivate screen protector to keep your phone working well as you meander about your college campus. If you are a student, you probably don’t have too much money, and as a result, it pays off to keep your phone protected in the long run, otherwise you would have to buy a new one if it accidently breaks.

What is unique about the BlackBerry Torch compared to other Android powered PDA phone

by Asad Ahmad - on May 3rd 2011 - No Comments

The newly released BlackBerry Torch was designed to compete against the other modern smart phones in the market. The Torch has upgraded both its hard and software from previous BlackBerry phones in order to compete against iPhone and Android based smart phones. A lot of the Torch’s features are a first in terms of BlackBerry phones go, but not so much against the other Android phones.

On the software side, it runs BlackBerry’s new OS 6. This updated OS is designed specifically to compete with some of the Android phones. It has an updates Webkit based browser, which runs much better than any of the previous versions. Older versions of BlackBerry’s browser were clearly mobile browsers, because of their limited functionality and slow speeds. Android, on the other hand, ran a browser as easily as any desktop computer. The new browser really helps BlackBerry catch up to that. The Torch also has a very unique navigation scheme. The large icons on the phone’s home screen make it easy to navigate the different part of the phone, and it’s all customizable.

Hardware-wise, the Torch is clearly a BlackBerry phone. As this is the BlackBerry’s first slider phone, it still has a physical keyboard. Many Android phones are touch-screen only, and so this is one unique feature of the Torch. The Torch also bears resemblance to many previous BlackBerry phones, with its slightly oval design, whereas many Android phones are designed to be a lot more box-y. Although the hardware isn’t completely unique, it’s nice to see people who prefer BlackBerry phones and still want to have Android based features.

The BlackBerry torch is just like any Android or other smart phone in that it needs some accessories. Common types of BlackBerry Torch accessories include BlackBerry Torch screen protectors and BlackBerry Torch cases. You will probably want to protect your phone, to make sure it stays in good condition for a long time. After all, the typical life cycle of a phone is two years, so you will want to make sure it lasts. The Torch is a nice piece of hardware, but it certainly isn’t indestructible, and you will want to keep it safe.

The BlackBerry Torch is an overall great phone. Unfortunately, it is a bit difficult to describe what makes it unique form other Android phones. It mostly feels like BlackBerry’s attempt to catch up with the Android phones, which they did well, but they didn’t really surpass any of them. Unlike many of the Android devices currently on the market, the Torch is more of a cellular phone. Although the Torch has tried to follow some of the steps that Android has taken with their devices but that have just not been able to succeed and in reality Blackberry has not really surpassed Android. That being said, the Torch is a good phone, and is well worth considering getting.

Driving Apps for the Samsung Captivate

by Asad Ahmad - on May 3rd 2011 - No Comments

The Samsung Captive is one of many excellent and relatively affordable smart phones that Korean giant Samsung released for public consumption during the tail end of last year. Even though it is no longer the newest smart phone on the market or the most powerful or the least expensive, people continue to buy it because it serves a good purpose and carves out a niche in the ever increasing flood of smart phones in the United States. It comes with a 4 inch touch screen with Super AMOLED technology, Android 2.1, a 5 megapixel camera, and 720p video. It also comes with 1 GHz processor and other neat features. Also, since the phone is powered by Google’s Android system for modern smart phones, you can run all sorts of apps on it, including apps to help make you a better, more efficient driver. This article will describe some of the different types of driving applications for the Samsung Captivate.

One of the first applications to consider getting is Maps. In a matter of fact, if you only have time to read one point in this article, just read this paragraph because Maps is perhaps the single most important app that you can get. With Maps, your phone becomes a GPS. It’s that simple. With this app, you won’t have to purchase another expensive GPS device to go in your car. With Maps, you can use your phone to get from point A to point B and back again, and check out stores X, Y, and Z along the way. It is a very capable little app, and if you don’t get it, you are missing out on one of the best parts of owning a smart phone these days.

However, it is important to note that there are other good smart phone apps out there for the Samsung Captivate besides Maps. For example, you will probably want to check out Car Finder, as it is a great little app when it comes to tracking down your car in a huge parking lot. The concept behind Car Finder is pretty simple, but it’s also pretty intuitive. Essentially, you mark your car’s location in your smart phone through latitude and longitude, or the kinds of coordinates used in modern GPS systems.

Once you’ve done that, you can go shopping or walking or doing whatever you want. When it’s time to go back, you just select your car and your phone will check the GPS system to see how far it is and in which direction. From that point on, all you have to do to get back to your car is to walk to it. Pretty simple, right? That’s the kind of smart thinking that should be part of any smart phone, and if you download an app like Car Finder, that’s what you’ll get.

Another app you might want to check out is Fuelly. Fuelly is based on a website on the internet where people go to log the fuel fill-ups they’re getting with their vehicles. This is a handy way to see what kind of mileage other people with your kind of car are getting, which can be handy so you know what to expect and have an idea of if you’re driving much too hard or if your car might be in need of repair.

Finally, be sure to look into some of the many Samsung Captivate accessories on the market. For example, a good Samsung Captivate screen protector or a nice Samsung Captivate case can mean the difference between a smart phone that works for years and one that breaks and needs replacement.

How to Transfer Files from Your PC to Your LG Ally

by Asad Ahmad - on Apr 30th 2011 - No Comments

We’re not all tech wizards, and something that seems like a simple idea can sometimes be complicated once you get into the nitty-gritty. This article will teach the reader how to correctly sync your LG Ally to a PC.

There are really only three steps involved in transferring files from your PC to your LG Ally. The three steps are plugging in the smart phone, make sure that the phone is synchronized, and transfer the files you want over to the phone. Although it sounds simple enough, there are technical details that leave people asking themselves, “What’s next?”

Before we may begin this process, the phone must be plugged into the computer. To do that, locate the USB cable that came with your phone and the other LG Ally accessories. You might need to first remove the LG Ally case. The bigger side of the cable plugs into the PC.

Now, you’ll need to do a few things so that the phone and the computer can recognize each other. Just like when two people meet for the first time, the two electronics need to basically shake hands and meet each other. Depending on how the computer is set up, the user may need to do it manually. However, start with the phone first, open the Notifications panel then tap USB connected. Then a new box will pop up, and tap on Mount. What this does is tell your phone to act as a new drive the same as if you’d inserted a disk or plugged in a thumb drive. The computer will then recognize the phone being plugged in. If so, you’ll be prompted by your computer. Select the option that says, “Open folder to view files.” If you aren’t prompted, then go to “My Computer” and look for a drive that is called “Removable Disk.” That’s actually your phone. Double click the Removable Disk icon. That should be the final step before your phone and PC are fully synchronized. You’ll be looking at the contents of your phone the way your computer sees it.

You may now start to move the files that you want. First, find the files you want on your computer. Files that people transfer usually tend to be movies, pictures, and music. Once you can see the files you want to transfer, select them with your mouse by clicking, then holding the mouse button down, and dragging the selection rectangle over all the files you want. Once they’re selected, right-click any one of the selected files and choose the option that says “copy.” After that, select the window that says Removable Drive (a.k.a. you’re LG Ally). Right-click anywhere inside a blank space of the window and choose the option that says “paste.” A new dialog box should pop up telling you that the files have been transferred.

Congratulations, you’ve successfully transferred files from your computer to your phone. Now, it’s time to safely disconnect them. On your computer, right-click the icon that looks like a little pair of pliers in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen. Then select “Safely Remove Hardware.” Then on your phone, go to your screen or LG Ally Screen protector and open the Notifications panel. Tap the option that says “Turn off USB storage.” A new box will pop up. Simply choose “Turn off,” and you’re finished

Must Have Accessories for the Motorola Cliq 2

by Asad Ahmad - on Apr 16th 2011 - No Comments

The new Motorola Cliq 2 is yet to be released, but it has already caused a lot of buzz in the phone industry. Tentatively, the phone is set to be released on January 19th. When this phone is released, this phone is all set to rock the mobile world. The Motorola CLIQ 2 sports a unique look, and it also has a unique keyboard design as well. Avid typists are going to find it extremely useful. Because of its 1GHz processing speed, this phone will have amazing functionality. Your applications and web browsing can be carried out at the speed of lightning. The price of the product is yet to be released. However, once you do decide in purchasing the new Motorola CLIQ 2, the next thing to think about is which kind of accessories will you be using with the phone. And if you’re very picky about style and looks, then you might want to consider doing some research before making any final decisions.

The phone is a wonderful choice if you have to manage a hectic work schedule. The device is equipped with three sets of fully customizable home screens that are going to help you with your work. This will help you save time since you’ll be able to manage many kinds of activities at the same time. In regards to the phone’s appearance, the phone resembles the Samsung Moment and a bit like Motorola CLIQ 2′s predecessor. The changes are few, but significant. The phone has a redesigned keyboard and a great looking bezel that surrounds the screen. There are not many pictures of the phone, but a handful has definitely made their way onto the Internet.

To optimize the usage and capability of the phone, you can buy some Motorola Cliq 2 accessories. An important accessory that you can use to protect your device is an Amzer Mirror Screen Protector accompanied by a Cleaning Cloth. If you constantly take this phone outdoors, then you should get this screen protector. It has a clear luster that looks like a mirror. However, it doesn’t weigh too much, just an ounce, but it is one flashy accessory that you can get for your phone. This Motorola CLIQ 2 screen protector has a cleaning cloth that wipes away all the dust, debris and dirt.

And if you don’t think a screen protector is enough to keep your phone safe from damages, don’t worry! There are other kinds of ways to keep your phone protected. Covers, cases, skins – there are so many accessories that you can buy to go with your new Motorola Cliq 2.

Next, you can get an Amzer Silicone Skin Jelly Case for your Motorola Cliq 2 case. Jet-black in color, this case became an instant hit in the market. Since it is made totally of silicone, it is very easy to carry. Because of its texture, it keeps dust and other substances away from your phone to a certain extent. The case also works as the perfect cushion if your phone happens to fall. There is, however, one thing that you need to be careful of with this phone. Check the space between your cell phone and the silicone cover. If there is moisture, it could damage your phone.

Another accessory is definitely worth a mention here – Black Bluetooth Wireless Headset. It blends well with your phone, but its voice recognition feature and twin microphones are something to reckon. They fit into your ears well and keep away all the background noises and echoes.

Top Features of the BlackBerry Torch

by Asad Ahmad - on Apr 13th 2011 - No Comments

The new BlackBerry Torch has a lot of improvements when compared to the previous BlackBerry models. The 3.2″ HVGA touch screen has a resolution of 480×360, more than enough for most any item to be displayed. Because we are talking about a touch screen, a BlackBerry Torch screen protector is a very useful purchase, not only for safeguarding the display area against dirt and greasy fingerprints, but also for providing a shield against bright light to make the display more readable when outdoors. Some very useful Blackberry Torch accessories are also available. The lithium-ion battery is both removable and rechargeable, and has an excellent standby life of about two weeks, and an active/talk life of just less than six hours, a reasonable period before you have to recharge the phone.

If you’re not used to using a touch screen, you can always just slide out the QWERTY keyboard, which is comfortable to use. Messaging and texting, the primary function of all Blackberry phones, is just so much easier with a full-fledged keyboard. A sturdy mechanism holds the keyboard tightly in its storage position when not in use. The chrome exterior is both gorgeous and elegant, especially when juxtaposed against the dark display screen — but, be sure to get a BlackBerry Torch case to protect the chrome finish.

The new 6.0 operating system adds a lot to a BlackBerry that were not possible before. One feature, activated with the swipe of a finger, is the capability to host multiple screens on the system’s Home Page. Different applications can be assigned to each screen. “Social Feeds” is one of those applications, one that makes you wonder why no one thought of this idea before — the information from each and every one of a Torch owner’s social networks can be displayed in one interface. The OS allows more types of documents to be displayed on the screen, and supports even more email providers than before.

The Blackberry Torch connects via both 3G and Wi-Fi, depending on which is the more powerful connection. If 3G is strong, and Wi-Fi is weak, then 3G is used for a stronger, more persistent, connection. When the connection is via Wi-Fi, faster connection speeds are enabled. This allows the Torch to display complete version of web pages, and it also lets you bookmark your favorite pages online. Besides faster loading of web pages, the Blackberry Torch also has Bluetooth capability, and supports several types of flash media.

A 5 megapixel camera is built into the Blackberry Torch, with 2-times digital zoom, flash exposure, auto-focus, and image stabilization — it’s almost like you get a mini-digital-camera with your phone. Editing tools for the photos you take are built into the OS; you can also record and playback video with the camera. You can play MP3 files on the Blackberry Torch, and even plug in a set of head phones. All those features require memory, and you can install 32 GB worth into the Blackberry Torch. Other features of the Blackberry Torch worth mentioning are the FM radio, and the GPS system (with Blackberry Maps).
