href="http://www.vsocio.com">Vsocio.

Nokia has officially unveiled the new Lumia 920 PureView which is going to be the flagship of the joint effort of Nokia and Microsoft. The previous teasers and rumors were accurate as the specifications will tell you below. Lumia 920 is also the first smartphone which integrates the Lumia and PureView titles together so it should make for a spectacular device!

The Nokia Lumia 920 looks much like the Lumia 900, but comes with a bigger 4.5″ 720p PureMotionHD+ display, with curved glass on top of it. It is powered by the Snapdragon S4 chipset with a 1.5GHz dual-core Krait processor and Adreno 225 GPU.

The display of Lumia 920 is called PureMotion HD+ and its screen color and brightness will adjusts automatically, depending on the ambient light. If you’ve hoped for an AMOLED screen though, you’ll be disappointed.

Lumia 920 camera comes with the PureView branding, but it packs an 8 megapixel sensor at its heart. It offers a cool new image stabilization that Nokia calls “floating lens” and according to its manufacturer is more effective than the optical image stabilization on many dedicated digicams. Carl Zeiss optics, 1080p video recording and an LED flash complete the list of the camera features.

The rest of the specification of Lumia 920 include NFC and LTE connectivity, 32GB internal memory plus 7GB SkyDrive cloud storage and 1GB RAM. The Lumia 920 weighs 185 grams, supports only micro-SIM cards and lacks a memory expansion slot.

Nokia Lumia 920 runs on the latest Windows Phone 8 OS and will come with various new services such as Nokia City Lens (augmented really app, which lets you find nearby cafes, restaurants etc.), refreshed Nokia Drive and Maps, updated hubs and system apps, etc.

The last feature worth mentioning is the built-in wireless charging. Lumia 920 uses the Qi standard and will be compatible with future accessories. The first supported wireless charging tool is the Fatboy wireless charging pillow. We hope it comes included in the retail package, but that is yet to be confired. Nokia also teamed up with Virgin Atlantic and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf to put wireless charging stations so you can charge your Lumia 920 even when you are out for a coffee.

The Lumia 920 will launch in glossy white, yellow and black colors. The pricing and availability is yet to be announced.

Picture:

Microsoft Surface

“The Surface is a PC. The Surface is a tablet. And the Surface is something new that we think people will absolutely love,” said Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.
Everyone is talking about this tablet, some critics say the tablets will fail while others say it will capture the market by destroying Apple’s iPad but it’s the quality, innovation, efficiency and the time that will judge its dominion.
Microsoft is going to launch its new tablet pc by the name of “Microsoft surface” approximately by August/September 2012 as per most of the blogs and websites. Microsoft is determined to release the Surface along with their much anticipated windows 8 operating system which has been designed with tablets in mind.
Surface will be available in two variants, one with windows RT and the other one with windows 8 operating system. Windows RT will come with a home and a student version of Microsoft Office making it more productive.
Microsoft surface comes with a 0.7 millimeter kickstand in order to keep it in an upright position along with a 3 millimeter thick touch keyboard which is snapped on using magnets. The total weight of the device is under 1.5 pounds which is similar to iPad’s which is 1.3 pounds.
Microsoft Surface screen measures 10.6 inches diagonally, compared to 9.7 inches of iPad. Along with this it has a 16:9 aspect ratio which has become the most common aspect ratio for sold televisions and computer monitors and is also the international standard format of HDTV as compared to iPad’s 4:3.
The price tag of Microsoft Surface will fall in between the range of $499 to $829, as most of the high end tablets fall in this range. But still we have to wait and see whether these prices are a real deal or not.
Microsoft is basically transferring from the old world of mice and keyboards to the new world of touch screens in order to become a tough competitor of iPad. Microsoft Surface has one new additional aspect which is its touch keyboard cover which is really thin and feels great to type with.
But most of the blogs are saying that Microsoft Surface will lag behind regarding the touch screen as compared to iPad because the image doesn’t come along in real time, that’s noticeable on Surface.
Microsoft surface has the fewest ports it can get away with, the bottom edge has a magnetic keyboard connector while the top has a power button and the sides have two speakers, micro SD, dual microphones, one USB 2.0 port ( USB 3.0 for the surface pro ) and micro HDMI.

Best tablets of the year 2011

One advantage that a Microsoft surface has that unlike other tablets, it will be able to run any program or software that is capable of running on your home or office computer. On the same hand iPad has plethora of applications reaching up to 225,000 due to which its popular, Microsoft have to convince the third party app developers to start creating apps specifically for this new platform, which will be hard to do.
Overall its quite a surprise that Microsoft have created its own tablet but they have done a quite decent job. All they have to do is to get the price right and most of all get the consumers attention but most all convincing the world that Windows 8 is a comparable tablet OS to IOS and android.

The post Windows Phone has a smaller selection of apps available to users than Android or iOS, but the average quality is exceptionally high. As the platform becomes more popular, the range of apps will increase and hopefully the quality will remain as high, or even higher, than it is now. Here are few apps that prove the worth of the platform.

Weave

Mobile news reading has become a boom area with solutions like Flipboard and Pulse taking many of the headlines, but Weave is up there with the very best. Lots of example content is built in to the app and you could in theory enjoy your news every day with just the sites that are pre-loaded. You can, however, add your own content and make the solution truly personal to your interests and it works as you would like it to. What sets it apart though is the presentation and the way the app works. I have not personally seen a news app that looks and feels as intuitive to use as Weave, and that is extremely impressive in a genre that includes the wonderful Flipboard. This app and the UI are breathtaking.

AppoinTile

The tile system employed by Windows Phone has started lots of debates over its usefulness. Some say that it hides too much, others believe it to be too simplistic, but the majority seem to enjoy the zen-like nature of the interface. AppoinTile cleverly uses the tile system to offer immediate information to the user as soon as they turn on their phone. Your appointments are sensitively displayed using the tiles to their full effect and it manages to create a practical solution that does not make the home screen look too busy. This app is ideal for anyone who needs to be organised.

Tile Memo

Like AppoinTile, Tile Memo also uses the tile format to full effect. It is, however, very easy to describe what it does- you can write a memo immediately in a tile and it will be displayed on the front screen. That’s it, but that is all you want a memo app to do right? It is all about the speed.

Navigation

There are many free navigation solutions available for Windows Phone, some built in and some third party, and there are also solutions that are available at commercial prices. Navigation sits somewhere in the middle, or to be fair closer to the free titles, in that it is extremely cheap. For under £5, you get onboard maps, driving and walking directions, routes calculated using time, distance and traffic data, and an interface that fits the operating system perfectly. There are a lot of features built into this app and many are what you would only expect to see in a commercial offering so it really does represent excellent value for money.

Bank Account Manager

Managing your money when mobile offers many advantages; you can enter transactions as soon as they are made and you will always have an up to date view of your current financial situation so that you can be sure that the purchases you make are viable. A good financial app will actually save you money and Bank Account Manager leverages the simplicity of the Windows Phone interface well to make money management feel much less complex than previously. It has some unusual quirks and is one of many, but as a personal preference this is the one I would go for.

The post <a

However, Google’s Android is regarded the less secure among the platforms. It is considered to introduce the greatest security risks, the answer came from 43% of those asked.

Google is working hard to overcome the security risks of Android in order to suit the needs of businesses. There’s even a Security Enhanced version of the platform, released by the NSA, that aims at solving some of the problems related to security. However, the corporate world still thinks it is less secure than Apple’s iOS which is also less secure than RIM’s BlackBerry OS.

VIA <span

There is no slouching when it comes to speed when using this device.

Carl Zeiss optics and a tasty camera round out a very neatly packaged device. Storage is taken care of, too, with 16GB on board and a further 25GB available free on SkyDrive, Microsoft’s cloud-based storage space.

The Nokia Lumia 800 will be available in France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK in November, across 31 leading operators and retailers. at

Price:

Approximately €420 before taxes and subsidies.

Nokia Lumia 710
The Nokia Lumia 710 offers incredible value to a whole new range of smartphone buyers. With interchangeable back covers (in a choice of black, white, cyan, fuchsia and yellow) and a choice of black or white device, there’s no shortage of personalization available, particularly when you consider the vast suite of apps on offer.

Like the Nokia Lumia 800, the Nokia Lumia 710 also sports a 1.4GHz processor together with hardware acceleration and a dedicated graphics processor.

The Nokia Lumia 710 will be available in Hong Kong, India, Russia, Singapore and Taiwan towards the end of the year with other markets joining early in 2012. />

More teasers than actual commercials, the short spots aired in-between conventional ads, showing off the sleek lines of the phone they codenamed ‘Sea Ray‘ inside Nokia.

The more we look at it, the more this does look like Nokia’s new handset, with the LED flash and Windows buttons putting in an appearance. The brightly colored tiles the phone is sat on also match recent Nokia promotional material, again pointing to this being the phone the Finnish company is hoping will signal a return to form.

All has not been well at Nokia for some time now, and after penning a deal to use Microsoft’s new Windows Phone 7.x as its smartphone operating system, the company was faced with mass walkouts across its software divisions. Faced with declining sales and with Apple’s iPhone and Google’s Android dominating in a market Nokia once dominated, the firm will be hoping that Windows Phone 7.x can give their impressive hardware the lift it’s been crying out for.
Microsoft has already hinted that it expects to show off the Nokia handset(s) at Nokia World next week, with blue, pink and black devices to hit shelves later this year.

Nokia is is said to be hard at work on two separate Windows Phone 7.x smartphones, with November the possible timeframe for a release in certain markets. North America has not historically been a strong market for Nokia, but the new tie-in with Microsoft and Windows Phone 7.x could signal a change in fortunes in that territory.

We’re looking forward to getting our hands on a Nokia branded Windows Phone 7.x device. Nokia has long been the king in putting together solid-feeling pieces of kit, but has suffered from poor software in the past. Marrying great hardware with a growing mobile operating system from Microsoft should be enough to get any technology fan excited, and we’re certainly no different!

Although, yes, it is a bit unfair to compare two already-released OSes – iOS 5 and WP7 Mango – against an OS that is still somewhat in the making (Ice Cream Sandwich); please keep in mind that this is more of a comparison of features (which, we believe, are final) rather than a comparison based on how these OSes perform in daily life.

Let’s begin with a little history: iOS (then known as iPhone OS) was revealed alongside the original iPhone back in 2007. Apple called it the most advanced mobile operating system and claimed that iOS+iPhone was 5 years ahead of anything else available in the market. Since then, we have seen four major updates, each of which added one highly demanded feature or another. Today, iOS 5 is one of the most feature complete mobile OSes available. It was released on October 12th.

Android OS was unveiled in 2007 as well, but was launched in 2008 with the HTC Dream (aka T-Mobile G1). It is considered to be the most rapidly-developing and feature-complete OS of the bunch, but because of its focus on features, the OS has been lacking in the user-experience department. However, its upcoming release – Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich – is expected to offer a vastly improved experience as Google claims that design and UX was a primary focus during development. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be available along with Galaxy Nexus sometime in November.

Lastly, there is Windows Phone 7. It was announced last year and is the ‘spiritual’ successor to Windows Mobile. Its initial release had limited features, but Windows Phone 7.5 Mango – which was released only weeks ago – makes up for most of the limitations. WP7 isn’t as popular as iOS or Android, but its popularity is expected to shoot up exponentially once mobile phone giant Nokia starts pumping out their WP7-based smartphones.

So, which OS is the best?<br

We also know Nokia plans to show more than one device, since Lees used plural – Nokia “phones.”

He also said that Nokia’s devices will “have differentiating hardware and software,” meaning we’re not just going to see Windows Phone Mango in a slightly different shell. The original batch of Windows Phone 7 smartphones all had very similar hardware, per Microsoft’s specifications.

Nokia has recently cut a significant portion of its workforce, mostly as a result of poor smartphone sales. It simply cannot risk another failure with Windows Phone devices, and we eagerly await to see what they have in stock for this holiday season.

Via:Engaget

The post <a

According to a new report, that might be just a few days away, on September 15th.

The rumored release date was first revealed on the Windows Phone Dev Podcast, a date that was allegedly backed up by numerous sources:

Next week is going to be a big week for Windows Phone. We have been told by various sources that Mango will be dropping and the final tools will be dropping for developers, so that would be interesting and something to look forward to.

It’s still unclear what the September 15th release date means, but it’s presumed to be the date when Microsoft will begin allowing Windows Phone 7.5 to be rolled out to existing smartphones running Windows Phone 7. This doesn’t mean that all current smartphone will be getting the system immediately, since carriers and OEMs have the last word on when each device is updated, therefore expect to wait a few more weeks, or months.

While your particular device might still be a few months away from getting ‘Mango’ officially, you can already get your hands on the system today. Back in August, the unmodified RTM build of Windows Phone 7.5 was leaked onto the internet. This build can be flashed right onto your phone’s internal memory, if you’re willing to give up on manufacturer or carrier-specific software for good. If you own an HTC phone, however, you can get the leaked HTC-specific ROMs which were ousted just last week. Yet, stay mindful that these methods haven’t been approved by neither Microsoft or the device manufacturers themselves, therefore most users should instead wait for the official releases to prevent any unnecessary damages.

A few devices running Windows Phone 7.5 have already been announced. HTC will be launching the Titan and the Radar, few of the first ‘Mango’ smartphones that will be available worldwide. While the Titan will be aimed specifically at high-end customers, the Radar will include dumbed-down specifications for lower-end customers who might not be willing to spend a fortune on a smartphone. No U.S. release date or pricing have been announced for any of these devices, yet they will be available in Europe and Asia starting next month.
purchased by Microsoft is looking to bring video calling to Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 platform, as a recent job posting mentions the following “Building and optimizing the Skype Video Engine solution for Microsoft Windows and Windows Phone platforms.”

Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 Mango offers support for front facing video cameras, so it would make sense for Microsoft and Skype to offer video calling on Windows Phone 7.

The news comes from a new job advertisement of Skype in which they are looking for software engineers to work on Microsoft platforms. This strongly hints that Microsoft and Skype are finally getting serious about bringing Skype’s strong VoIP services to Windows Phone 7 smartphones.

According to Skype Careers:

”Skype Video Development Team is creating technology that enables high quality, multi-way, multi-modal, multi-platform video communications experience over the Internet. The video team is responsible for delivering the Skype Video Engine for Skype Desktop clients as well as Mobile and Embedded devices.”

This thing is of no surprise that Microsoft and Skype would do that and we know “Mango” evidenlty allows front-facing cameras and since Microsoft now owns Skype, deep integration into the desktop, Xbox, embedded devices and of course Windows Phone should be expected. But we should be glad that Skype looks to have already started down this route and are looking for more help, hopefully to speed things up now that the aquisition has gone through.

Until now, no clear date has been given for the integration of Skype’s services into Windows Phone 7. But it might be at the end of 2011 or early 2012 though.

The post <a

So, they are very mature than the newly arrived Microsoft’s WP7. Microsoft came up with a totally new user interface for the Windows Phone 7.

Android

Android UI is all about Widgets, Gadgets and customizable icons. Android pushes users to create their own custom home screen experience. Users can place apps and widgets on these home screen panels on their own choice. Android lets users access content from apps without actually launching them via widgets. The apps just run in the background updating a widget, no user interaction required. You’re creating a dashboard, or heads up display, filled with the most important content. You don’t need messing around with the app list.

Windows Phone 7

Microsoft launched its Windows Phone 7 few months ago and the unique UI is creating a stir. Even though the app ecosystem is smaller right now, Microsoft seems to have put some thought into how users will use their apps. Microsoft’s commercials make it clear they are going for glance able information, as opposed to tapping around endlessly in apps. From the home screen design, it looks like Microsoft is banking on people not needing all that many apps at hand constantly. Windows Phone 7 will excel at business – Microsoft won’t turn its back on its cash cows.

IOS

Apple’s IOS made its name with apps. It was the platform that showed us what a well-crafted mobile application could do to improve the experience. As such, the IOS user interface is all about reminding users that they have apps. The entire home screen is just a scrollable list of apps. The message here is that you have apps, and you should probably use them.

Features Comparison

It should be noted that Microsoft has promised that Flash Support and Copy/Paste functionality will be patched in soon after launch but as of now, it will still be indicated as “Not supported” under WP7.Also this comparison includes Android’s Froyo 2.2 features, which is the latest stable available version and off course IPhone’s 4 ver.
<table
