The market for smart devices in China started growing a year ago and within one year has taken to the first position. Even though, this is the first time that China has overtaken the American market, but it is just with a slight numbers. However, if the Chinese market growth rate remains consistent as it is now, it will take lead with higher numbers.

The report is based on the study by Flurry, which tracked 2.4 billion anonymous application sessions per day from different parts of the world. Having done so, the company claims that they were able to accurately measure activity of 90 percent of the world’s smart devices. Just about a month ago, both China and the U.S. were head-to-head in the market share, but this month in February, China took the lead for the first time.

In January, the U.S. had 222 million active smart devices and China had 221 million, now China is predicted to have 246 million devices and the U.S. increase will take it to 230 million. The third country with the highest number of smart devices is the United Kingdom with 43 million and South Korea is fourth with 40 million active smart devices. The experts who have a keen eye on the trends of the growing smart devices market say that the U.S. will not be able to take back its top spot.

Based merely on the population, the U.S. cannot exceed more than 310 million smart device users. The only country that is predicted to overtake China is India with a population of 1.2 billion people. But that will take some years before we can see India on the top spot as currently there are only 19 million active smart devices in India.

The post Vsocio.

The iOS 6 / 6.1 untethered jailbreak has now become a reality, thanks to the hard work from those involved in the newly formed Evad3rs jailbreak team. The release of the new userland-based Evasi0n jailbreak tool means that users now have an extremely efficient way of making a complicated background process seem extremely simple.

Supported devices:

As mentioned in our previous post, Evasi0n supports all 20+ variants of iOS devices, including the likes of iPhone 5, on iOS 6.0 through iOS 6.1. Apple TV 3 though is not supported.

Supported firmware versions:

iOS 6.0, 6.0.1, 6.0.2, 6.1 are all supported.

Requirements:

A computer running at least Windows XP or above, Mac OS X v10.5 or above, Linux

An iOS device running iOS 6.x

A USB cable for connection your iOS device to your computer.

How-to jailbreak iOS 6.1 (instructions):

If you happen to be one of those who have been waiting extremely patiently for this jailbreak, then you’ve come to the right place. Follow our extremely simple step by step guide below to jailbreak your iOS device on iOS 6 / 6.1 fully untethered.

NOTE:

a. It is highly recommended to make a complete backup of your device using either iTunes or iCloud before proceeding with the steps below.

b. If you happen to have followed our guide for older A4 based devices for tethered jailbreak iOS 6.1, the good news is that you can easily convert your tethered jailbreak into untethered by installing “evasi0n 6.x Untether” from Cydia.

Step 1: Download Evasi0n jailbreak tool tailored for your OS (Windows / Mac / Linux).

Step 2: Download iOS 6.1, and update your device to it using iTunes. Make sure you restore your device to 6.1 using iTunes, and not OTA, to avoid issues with jailbreak. Even though Evasi0n supports all versions of iOS 6, it is recommended to update to the latest 6.1 version before jailbreak so that you can get all the new features of iOS 6.1, with the added bonus of jailbreak.

Step 3: Make sure you don’t have any passcode set on your device. You can disable Passcode lock from: Settings –> General –> Passcode Lock –> Off
<div

Be aware that the first run of Cydia after a jailbreak will require the owner to choose what type of user they are (user, developer or hacker) as well as a run-through of some initial repository setup. Please be patient as this could take some time depending on server load.

As always, remember that the release of any new jailbreak will always see an initial spike in activity at first release. The servers of Cydia and the stock repositories are expected to handle an unusually high load in the first few days, so expect some possible delays and frustrating moments when trying to load and refreshing data.

The post <a

While Samsung Electronics may lead the market in total smartphones sold, no other company can garner the kind of excitement and anticipation for a new product, and few companies can reap the sheer amount of profit that Apple can with the iPhone.

The success comes despite criticism that the iPhone 5 isn’t a ground-breaking upgrade from the previous version, and that its key features — a bigger display and a 4G wireless connection — are elements that should have been included in the iPhone 4S.

More embarrassing is Apple’s own maps application, which contains a number of errors, distorted images and a lack of details in different locations that have many wishing the company hadn’t booted Google Maps out of iOS 6.

Still, the iPhone 5 has garnered strong reviews, and neither the lack of a major change in its esthetics nor the map flap have hurt demand. Apple also said today that more than 100 million devices have upgraded to iOS 6, the latest version of its mobile operating system.

It remains to be seen whether the long-term demand for the iPhone continues with the competition stepping up its game. Samsung has already gone after Apple with advertisements taking shots at the iPhone 5, while Microsoft is readying the launch of its Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 5 marches on. This Thursday, Apple will release the iPhone 5 in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

The post <a

Indeed all the rumors have been proven to be true. The new iPhone or iPhone 5, whatever you want to call it has all the specs and more that were accurately predicted in the past months.

For full specs, check out: http://www.vsocio.com/2012/09/12/apple-iphone-5-announced/

But, does it really surprise me? In a word, no. Now let me explain.

For two and a half very long years, Apple fanatics have been trying to piece together what it is Apple has had up its sleeve for the iPhone 5. Leading up to Apple’s announcement, we were asking ourselves the very same question we asked ourselves in October of last year: “What will the iPhone 5 entail?”

On top of all the mystery, something very saddening happened last year following the announcement of the iPhone 4S. Steve Jobs, Apple’s fearless and inspirational leader and former CEO, passed away the very next day. Since then, we’ve been wondering if Apple’s new products can live up to the quality of the Jobs-era products. Without Steve Jobs, can Apple execute the same level of efficiency in its products? Can Tim Cook instill the same level of desire in consumers?

Some feel Jobs could have made a $1,000 brick with an Apple logo appealing, a must-have item for any home. All eyes were on Tim Cook to recreate and emulate the same level of charisma and confidence in a product that Jobs could.

On the heels of a somewhat disappointing (yet widely popular) iPhone 4S, many were sceptical about the iPhone 5. It very well could be a make-or-break for the company in the volatile marketplace especially after the bitter legal dispute with Samsung over patent infringements.

Apple showed us the very device we’ve seen leaked in images around the Web for months now. The same two-toned metal (aluminum) backing, the taller, thinner design.

“Anyone can make a bigger phone,” said Phil Schiller, who introduced the iPhone 5 to the audience at the event.

The iPhone 5 is almost exactly what many were expecting. It hosts a 4-inch display (326 PPI, 1136 x 640 pixel resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio), 7.6mm thick, 18 percent thinner than the iPhone 4S, 20 percent lighter, all in a strikingly similar chassis.

As far as software goes, the extra vertical pixels call for an extra row of icons. The larger display yields a larger viewing space and, thus, allows you to view more content on a single page. Legacy applications, however, will just center themselves on the display at the old resolution, giving users a black margin at the top and bottom of the app. (That’s almost as bad as iPhone apps on an iPad.) Inside the display, Apple removed the touch sensitive layer and integrated it right into the display for a more responsive touch and crisper display.

I would be disappointed with anything but a totally redesigned, 4.3-inch (or larger) iPhone 5. I don’t care about a boost in performance or how thin Apple made the phone. LTE connectivity was a given (something that should have happened last year) and their “redesign” was haphazard. The two-tone back is not appealing, nor is it Apple-eqsue. And for some, a 4-inch phone is still too small. After all that its competitors have launched into the market, I expected Apple to reply in earnest (or at least come close to it).

While I’m sure it will be just as great of a device as the iPhone has been, the iPhone 5 is just as disappointing as the last.

That said, I did not at all expect Apple – of all companies – to have literally no surprises for us.

There was literally no aspect of the iPhone 5 we were unaware of leading into the event. I may have chosen to give Apple the benefit of a doubt, hoping they were a little more careful than to let the Internet spoil the surprise. I was wrong.

I hold my final opinion for when I get the phone in my hand. But I don’t like the aspect ratio or look of the iPhone 5. And nothing Apple announced today is terribly impressive. It’s not a total letdown, though. But Apple’s inability to keep a secret anymore is.

So, what’s your take, ladies and gentlemen? Is the iPhone 5 everything you’ve been hoping and waiting for? Is it a big enough improvement to upgrade your old iPhone or Android phone?

Or will you wait, like me, for Apple to genuinely surprise me with a radically new iPhone 6?

The post <a

Having first been given the once-over at WWDC ’12, Apple has presented us with a full-on showcase of its brand-new mobile operating system, known as iOS 6. As well as the features we’ve already seen, there were other new and exciting implementations on show, and here, we take a moment to sum up some of the most exciting of them.

Scott Forstall, Apple’s Senior Vice President of iOS, was on-hand as usual to deliver the news, and rounding up features old and new, here’s a roundup of iOS 6.

Passbook

First seen at WWDC, Passbook is exclusive to the iPhone and iPod touch, acting as a one-stop for all of your vouchers and coupons. Having a pocket full of shredded paper is never an organized way to live, and even if you like to keep things tidily in a wallet or purse, Passbook’s digital nature will ensure you never lose another important pass or ticket again.

As well as keeping everything safe, utilizing them will be a lot simpler. For example, when entering an airport, checking in with Passbook will be a matter of tapping the screen as opposed to queuing and partaking in the tedious waiting game. Moreover, if your flight is delayed or gate changed, Passbook will recognize this and notify you accordingly, so not only is your data safely digitized, but it’s more informative and useful than a paper ticket ever could be.

Siri

With iOS 6, Siri learns a number of new tricks. You can now use to Siri to check for latest sports updates, movies running in the theatres nearby, ability to tweet on Twitter, update Facebook status and lots more. Siri is now also supported on the third-generation iPad.

New Maps

One of the earliest implementations revealed of iOS 6 was the new, in-house Maps feature from Apple, and with 3D mapping and turn-by-turn directions available optionally, it’s no wonder Apple has been hasty in removing Google’s reliable Maps offering from iOS finally.

Facebook Integration

Facebook is the world’s number one social network, and following on from the Twitter integration with iOS 5, Zuck’s company has finally gotten its own intertwined system within the makeup of iOS 6. If you’ve familiarized yourself with the Twitter integration then this is pretty standard stuff, and you’ll find day-to-day tasks like updating your status or logging in to be stress-free and simple.

Safari iCloud Tabs

Apple has put a great portion of its resources into plugging and improving iCloud, and although Apple’s service is already pivotal to a handful of apps, iCloud is certainly at the heartbeat of iOS 6.

Among a slew of iCloud-based new features, Safari now has iCloud Tabs, allowing you to begin browsing sites on one iDevice (or indeed, a Mac), and continue on another iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Mac.

Revamped Calling System

Apple has finally realized that not everybody wants to answer every received call, but iOS 6 has amended the entire structure. Now, if you’re not in the mood to talk, you needn’t just decline, since you can reply with an SMS, or simply create yourself a call-back prompt for later on in the day.

Additionally, the Do Not Disturb option means you can enjoy using your device uninterrupted, and if you so wish, you can easily whitelist some contacts exempt from the rules.

Other features:

VIP Mail

Guided Access

Photo Stream Sharing

Redesigned Stores

Support for Baidu Search

Availability

iOS 6 will be available for all the supported devices (except for the newly announced ones): iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 4, iPad 3, iPad 2, and Apple TV – on September 19.

The post <a

Thus, all sorts of Apple software rumors are starting to make the rounds. Today, the Wall Street Journal is reporting that the iCloud will gain some new features, most notably, a way to share galleries of photos with other iCloud users. These photos would be open to comments by other iCloud users you share with and would be separate sets outside of a user’s standard Photo Stream, which currently stores the last 1000 photos you’ve shot with your iOS device or added via your computer. It is also stated that the web interface for iCloud will sync reminders and notes from iOS.

The inclusion of notes and reminders on iCloud is a necessary update but the revamped photo sharing features would mark a bit of a change of pace for Apple after the shutting down in a few weeks of MobileMe, Apple’s cloud solution prior to iCloud.

The post <a

Definitely it is going to bring many new features that will put it aside from other mobiles or smartphones. It is said that iPhone 5 will come forward with 200 new features. A brief description of the features is as follows:

Notification:

Users were complaining Apple about the bad notification setup. Apple took notice of their pleas and developed a better notification setup in iPhone 5. It is called as Notification Center. It is the main spot of all the notifications. Notifications include all your social websites notifications and apps notifications. You can see them by swiping your finger from the top of your phone. This is a new feature for iPhone but it is present in Android smartphones.

iMessages:

Like notifications, a new messaging service is created that will be functional between iOS users. You will be able to send messages to the other iPhone, iPod and I Pad users. This feature is currently present in Blackberry as Blackberry messenger. It will show delivery receipt, read receipt and tying indications. Is it it awesome. Messages will be pushed to all the devices. But the drawback of this is that you can’t use it without internet I.e. Wi-Fi and 3G.

Reminders:

This is a list that will keep you organized. It means it will tell you what your plans are, where you have to go, where you right now, etc are.

Twitter integration:

Twitter is damn in these days. It is one of the most used sites. Seeing its popularity graph Apple has decided to integrate it into iOS. It means that you can tweet from your camera, photo, YouTube, maps, contacts and apps. You can set the function that will automatically update your contact list photos on twitter.

Newsstand:

It is the new feature created by Apple. It helps you in getting easy and direct access to magazines, newspaper and other media. It will automatically work at background and downloads media. The downloaded material will be uploaded I something that looks like iBook app.

Camera:

A lock screen shortcut is added that will help you taking pictures even faster. There is no need to enter passcode again and again. The new advanced feature is that you can use volume up button to take a picture. Zooming was not in the previous iPhones. But in iPhone this features is introduced. You can zoom right in the camera app.

Photo editing:

The most needed feature for editing pictures is in your access. You can crop, remove red eye, enhancements etc directly from your iPhone and right out of the box.

Game center:

Now you can compare your photos with your friends. You can see your friend’s mutual friends, can see recommendations, and give recommendations. Turn-based games will be available in iOS, playable at multiple devices.

Safari:

Yu can easily a conveniently read a story on website. Words will be clearer to your eyes and you can read them easily.

The post IOS6 VS ANDROID 4.1 (JELLY BEAN)

IOS6 and the Android 4.1 both have emerged as the titans of the new Operating systems in the mobile world. Both having their own new features and enhanced user friendly interface, are making consumers choice a bit difficult. Let’s see who has the edge in the market.
As far as the interface is concerned IOS6 as always rarely makes any changes to its interface, this time the additional things added is the Safari and the remodeled Music app. While the Android 4.1 have major changes in its user interface. Now you can respond to missed calls, notifications and texts easily on the interface rather than opening a separate app. This allows faster interaction and saves time and touching and swapping. Project butter now takes care of the lagging animations in the OS, but it will require a powerful processer to run. Another new feature is that the home screen itself adapts the widgets and when the widgets are too big they resize themselves. As far as the interface is concerned Android added some new features which might take the lead this time.
Now let’s look at the additional features, the voice input/assistant in IOS6 named by the Siri is much more interactive and enhanced now. She keeps the records of the games, understands more languages and opens apps for you. Now she can find restaurants, set the reservations and can tell you the weather along with complex calculations. Google also came up with a serious competition as the Google Now feature gives you suggestions according to your location and helps you catch the train or the bus. Shows you latest sports, weather and business updates as well. Its voice assistant is also very effective and can take the command very well. It even lets you dictate the Android phone now. Hence Google’s own voice assistant and which can be dictated will take the lead here again.
Apple maps has been introduced it has 3d feature and a bird’s eye view but the Google Maps are still their and enhancing themselves as well, here it’s anyone’s game.
Passbook which is a new feature to IOS6 allows you to make payments and bills , lets you handle documents such as flight tickets, movie tickets etc. It senses where you are and shows the right card at the right moment. Google’s Google wallet has a rough start and is not that good and is considering to make it better. IOS6 is better in managing your important documents than Google.
Apple has added a new feature “do not disturb” mode so that no one disturbs you if you are in meeting etc. You can send a message in return or block a contact. Google has the same feature but lacks efficiency.
IOS6 features the Airplay which has been continuing from IOS5 but we still don’t see enough devices with such features. While Google has its Nexus Q which is a beautifully designed device and quite high at a price.
As far as the hardware is concerned which will run these OPs , IOS6 is supported by the 4th generation of the iPhone and there won’t be too much changes except that iPhone5 will support 16:9 aspect ratio and 4G network. Whereas the Android’s butter smooth performance will require higher specs. As more games are being produced high end processer might be required.
Overall both of the Operating Systems are looking good, both have their merits and de merits, lets see who will take the lead.

The post <a

Some say its going to be the best OS of all time, let’s see what new features IOS 6 have for us.
Siri has been improvising itself for past 8 months through public existence, now it can answer any tricky question of yours whether you want to know about sports, weather or any complex calculation. IOS 6 will enhance Siri through better voice commands. Apple is even partnering with Yelp Inc, so that Siri can include ratings of all the restaurants. Siri will be available in more languages so that more countries can avail it.
Apple Maps ends the relationship with Google Maps, it will have 3d maps with Siri integration in it making it better as per Apple. It will have real time traffic data and will offer alternative routes as per the traffic. It will have flyover 3D images taken through helicopters. It’s a way to get a bird’s eye view. The new maps remain persistent on the lock screen.
With IOS6 face time calls will become much easier over cellular networks, you can integrate your numbers with Apple so that one can answer a Face time call on iPhone, iPad or Mac. Apple’s new IOS6 will prevent you from being disturbed at night by preventing messages and text notifications. You can control how and when to get back to people, you can set a reminder or there’s a feature “call when you leave” which reminds you to call back when you are leaving a building or any place.
IOS6 has a feature known as the VIP feature, whenever you receive an email from your chosen contacts it is headed under a VIP folder, in this way you can reply them even when you are in meeting.
Apple’s new Passbook will allow you to keep all the boarding passes, tickets and gift cards. If you get to a movie theatre or a baseball stadium, the ticket will pop up on passbook. Passbook will also alert gate changes and flight delays once you have stored the boarding pass.
This time Facebook is strongly integrated with IOS6, now you can update your status, post photos and videos directly through the notification bar without using the Facebook app. You can also post about websites through Apple’s Safari browser. Facebook will be integrated with Apple’s online app store which will show if you have liked any app directly on to your Facebook. Events on Facebook like birthdays and events will also be shown on phones calendar.
You can now save we pages through Safari sp that you can read it when you are in offline mode even, you can also view the image in the landscape mode even.
IOS 6 looks promising and along with all these features it can capture the market more firmly. Lets see whether it will fulfill its consumers needs.

The post iOS for iPhone. Both are good. But when it comes to certain features, Android may be a better option for you than iPhone.

Integration with social network Sites:
We share a lot of stuff on our phones on a lot of different services. On iPhone, we usually have to open up a separate app if we want to post something to Facebook, LinkedIn, Evernote, Dropbox, and many others.
With Android, all those services become baked into the operating system as soon as you install the app. Want to share a photo you just took? You don’t even need to leave the camera app. Just tap the service you want to push it to. Easy.

Android still does multitasking better:
We still can’t get over how bad multitasking is on iPhone. It’s insanely difficult to reopen the app you want.
Android’s solution is much more elegant, especially in the latest version. All you do is tap the multitasking button in the taskbar and a list of your most recent apps appears over your screen. Tap the app to open or swipe across to close it for good

More hardware choices:
If one smartphone model doesn’t cut it for you, there are dozens of Android phones to choose from. Each one has a different screen size, storage option, processor speed, price, etc. If choice in hardware is very important to you, Android is your best option.

Expandable storage:
Android phones let you pop in a Micro SD card for extra storage. Plus it’s a lot cheaper than spending another $100 or so on a model with more storage.

The post <a

There were also rumors that iOS 5.1 would bring a new lock screen for the iPhone, with a camera icon that didn’t require pushing the home button to call up. Apple made no mention of that, but we’ll see if it’s there when we try it out later today.

When will the next major revision of iOS appear, the rumored iOS 6? Although we’ve seen evidence that Apple is testing iOS 6 on devices from its headquarters in California, Apple typically reserves the roll out of its big iOS updates for its developers conference at the beginning of summer. Consumers won’t likely see it available for their iDevices until fall.

The post <a

Apple will also alert affected customers via email by April 30th. Anyone that bought an iPhone 4 before Friday should be eligible though There’s no word if that applies to customers who have already accepted a free case from Apple.

The suit was originally filed in 2010 and alleged that “the case and antenna design has led to a substantial degradation in signal quality and dropped calls when the phone is used in a normal and foreseeable fashion by users.”

Thanks to Apple, the iPhone 4S does not have any problem due to a reworked antenna system.

The post <a
