‘The Fifth Estate’ will Cover Story of Assange and WikiLeaks

The Fifth EstateThe upcoming film about WikiLeaks and its founder Julian Assange has started its principal photography and has gone into production. The film will be titled “The Fifth Estate” and will star Benedict Cumberbatch as the main lead of the founder and Daniel Bruhl as Daniel Domscheit-Berg. The direction will be done by The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn’s Bill Condon.

The film is said to be based on a combination from two books, Inside WikiLeaks: My Time with Julian Assange at the World’s Most Dangerous Website written by Daniel Domscheit-Berg and WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange’s War on Secrecy written by David Leigh and Luke Harding.

The story in the film will cover founding days of WikiLeaks up till the time of release of the Afghan War Diary in July 2010. The film is expected to be released on November 15, 2013. According to the director, it will take more time for people to understand the full impact that WikiLeaks has had on this world and on freedom of information. The director Bill Condon said:

“This film won’t claim any long view authority on its subject, or attempt any final judgment. We want to explore the complexities and challenges of transparency in the information age and, we hope, enliven and enrich the conversations WikiLeaks has already provoked.”

Those interested in a real-life thriller movies which cover subjects affecting our world today, they will surely find this movie in their list to watch upon release later this year.
