After the success of social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and to some extent Google Plus many have been trying to come up with new ideas for social networks. One of the newest launched social networking websites is Fivebeat.net with a focus on integrating music and videos with social networking. The interface is fairly light and no cluttered reminiscent of early facebook days.
There is a newsfeed which shows what your friends are doing and the videos that they have shared. The video playing mechanism is much smoother then facebook and the videos are bigger than they appear on facebook thus not having to go to youtube to view the actual video. The sidebar is also much more organized it provides direct access to the groups that you have joined (yes groups can be created and joined like facebook) links to non-video articles that people may have shared and a very useful section that just lists the videos that may have been shared. You can register at the website or just use your facebook account to login into to the site.
Another nice feature that the website provides is blogs, the website goes for a different concept then facebook/twitter which try to limit your word count. Having personalized blogs which people can read mean you can write much longer and detailed entries which people can read, like and discuss. Like any good network you can also upload and share your photos and customize your profile. Other than having groups the website also has open forum sections where anyone can go and discuss whatever they want with other people.
Unlike the groups the forums are open to everyone and need not be joined to view/add content to it, this is definitely a great feature which helps bring people together. Somewhat similar to facebook the site also has an “Event” feature which allows you to add upcoming events and track/follow them. The idea behind fivebeat is definitely a strong one to focus on sharing music and videos and bring them to the forefront while keeping the features that facebook provides for users who may want them.
Fivebeat could become the next big thing in social networking and you should go check it out
