LG in the past has not produced cell phones which were as good as the other smart phones. With the combination of poor software, bad quality and underpowered internals brought the mobiles crashing back to earth.
With an Android 4.0, quad core Tegra 3 processer and 1GB of RAM, LG is coming back with its LG Optimus 4X HD. LG with all these specs, it kind of seems it’s not true but this time it is.
The Optimus 4X HD is big but not large, with its 4.7 inch screen and its 5.21 inches tall 2.68 inches wide. It looks as if it’s a small mobile in your hand but it’s not, the back of the Optimus 4X HD is designed with slightly raised diagonal ridges which looks beautiful and elegant. There’s a big LG logo on the back along with an off centre camera along with a small LED flash. The speaker is also in the back on the bottom left corner which creates a big problem that every time you hold the phone the speaker gets blocked. On the left side there is a single volume button and a 3.5mm jacks rests on the top next to the power button. Below the screen there are 3 capacitive Android buttons which only lights up when pressed. The phones not sleek but handsome more of a distinctive approach.
The Optimus 4X HD comes with a 4.7 inch screen, 1280 x 720, IPS display and with a 720p display it looks amazing, with 180 viewing angles it has excellent color production. It’s bright and easily readable in sunlight, even small text is readable. It’s not the best screen you can get as compared with One X’s Super LCD but one of the best in the market.
Audio performance is little hampered due to the placement of the speaker. Sound is clear enough but its quiet, if you are in a quiet place you can hear it otherwise the voice is hard to be heard. As far as the call quality is concerned it’s good and the microphone is loud and clear.
The Optimus 4X HD comes with a 8 megapixel camera and a 1.3 megapixel front camera. The rear camera is better than many due to its solid color accuracy and good dynamic range. It also shots 1080p video but its not that impressive, but it still gives good autofocus and colors.
The Optimus 4X HD comes up with a Ice cream sandwich, the worst thing are the hideous icons of messages, contacts etc but they can be changed very easily (long-press and hit the paintbrush icon). The lock screen is very cool, place your finger anywhere on the screen and a translucent circle appears showing where to unlock. There are app drawer lock, which makes it easy to characterize the apps. You get half a dozen added LG apps, but which are not that useful at all.
LG Optimus 4X HD is powered by a quad core 1.5 GHz Tegra 3 processer which is quite fast and comes with a 1 GB of RAM. Still with such a powerful system there will be Android animation problem because its totally a Android problem not related to a powerful system. The processer works very fast and is one of the best. The battery life is not that good and would last a whole day very rarely making the battery its downturn.
Over all it’s a well made phone and LG made something good with a good thinking.
