Google unveiled the Nexus 7 at Google I/O last week; it was liked by every person. It makes great name in the growing market of 7-inch tablet market. Amazon’s Kindle Fire is the king of 7 inches tablets. The question is how Nexus 7 will compete with the Amazon Kindle Fire.
While buying any tablet the first thing that is in the mind of any buyer is that what is the screen dimension. Both the Nexus 7 and Amazon’s Kindle Fire are of 7 inches diagonal screen space. The resolution of Amazon’s Kindle Fire is 1024 x 600, but Nexus 7 left it behind by 1280 x 800 screen resolution. The other main difference is Nexus 7’s 216ppi pixel density beats the Fire’s density that is 170ppi.
Let us have a look at the body of both. Nexus 7 is slightly taller than Fire. The height of Nexus 7 is 7.81 inches while that of the Fire is 7.48. Both tablets are extremely thin. Nexus is very thin. Its thickness is .41 inches whereas the thickness of Fire is .45 inches. The width of both the tablets is same i.e. 4.72 inches.

What is inside the tablets is also important. Nexus 7 has a Tegra 3 quad-core processor, an NVidia 12-core graphics processor, and 1024 MB of RAM. Internal memory is either 8GB or 16 GB. Battery is 4325 mAh battery. The hardware of the tablet is very impressive. It is the claim of Google that they are selling Nexus 7 at cost.
Kindle Fire has only 1 GHz Texas Instruments dual-core processor and 512 MB RAM. All these features are less efficient than Nexus 7. But the battery timing of Fire is awesome. It has a large 4400 mAh battery. Fire claims that their battery runs 7.5 hours of continuous video.
Apparently the features of both the tablets are almost the same. But the softwares in them are different and in the same their working too. Although both tablets are working on Google Android operating system, Fire has the latest modified version of Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Amazon is easy to use and it has made their customers to feel difficulty in using any other tablet. Amazon Prime member will get the library of free streaming movies. The second advantage that the prime members will enjoy is that they will get a free book per month from the Amazon Lending Library, which now even has Harry Potter books. Nexus 7 will have Google’s newest version of Android, 4.1 Jelly Bean. It means that the new tablet will have access to the wide range of applications, games and media. Nexus will get the updates from Google.
If we focus o the connectivity, the Kindle Fire is bit lacking. Nexus 7 has NFC support. It also has Bluetooth and front facing camera that Kindle Fire lacks.
The comparison between these two tablets is totally unfair because Kindle was released year back than Nexus 7. Actually every tablet is designed with different purposes in mind. Definitely Nexus is the latest one it is better than Kindle Fire.
