Since the release of Apple iPhone 4S rumors are everywhere about the new iPhone 5 features and looks. This is not a strange attitude of people and analysts about the display. Whenever a new model of anything is expected to come we have an assumption that it will look totally different from the previous model and it will be more attractive, elegant and handy. But this assumption proved totally wrong in case of Apple iPhones because we do not see a big difference in the models. There is lot of speculation about the screen of iPhone 5. Some are saying that it will remain 3.5 inches as users find it handy ad love it. But some are saying that it will have a wide screen that will be of 4 inches. It is easy to say that screen size will get large but it is not practically possible quite easily. The problems that will occur if the screen size will get increased are as follows. The increase in size of the screen without changing the resolution would cause pixel-per-inch count to drop below that of the current iPhone 4S. The other problem that will occur is small tweaks to the screen resolution or aspect ratio could break the aesthetic look of the application. The designers will work on the way the applications will look if they will increase the display size. Widening screen is not an easy task for Apple. It is also said that Apple will not take a risk of the bad resolution for introducing wide screen. Because increasing the screen size will lose the existing setup of the apps. If the resolution is doubled than scaling would be simpler.

This was adopted by Apple when it went up to the retina display on both iPhone and iPad. It is not that much difficult to produce a screen of 500ppi. Can you believe that LG announced world’s first 5-inch fully-HD LCD panel for smartphones. This is the highest resolution produced by any mobile panel. This is not the only company that is providing such a large display. Toshiba has a 6.1-inch display running at 2,560×1600 offers a pixel density of 498ppi. Both these panels (LG and Toshiba) are “Retina display killer” displays in that their pixel density is far greater than that of the 326ppi panel used on the current latest model of iPhone i.e. iPhone 4S. When these mobile brands whose profit is far less as compared with the iPhone can provide these features than what is the issue with iPhone for not providing a wide display screen. This question is in the mind of every person. This is crystal clear that Apple won’t compromise on the quality at all. If it will offer a big screen than definitely it will double the resolution power to cope with the problems that are expected to come with the big display screen. What we can do right now is to just wait and hope for the best till iPhone 5 get released.
