Facebook announced that it will test a promote button, which will allow managers of pages for small and midsized businesses to promote their content by creating sponsored stories or ads.
The social network offered two examples, pictured below, of what the promote button may look like. The first is part of its page composer, while the second appears at the bottom of the status update form. A Facebook spokesperson added:
We want to make it as simple as possible for businesses to reach fans and their friends through their page. Right now, this is a very small test, but we will continue to iterate on the feature based on feedback.
