It has been reported that the director of many acclaimed films, Martin Scorsese will direct a film based on an up and down relationship between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. They were both married and divorced twice over a 13-year period. They first met on the set of the movie, Cleopatra in 1963. They were both British and together made 11 films, which includes the 1966 movie, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, for which Elizabeth won her second Oscar for Best Actress.
Scorsese is in negotiations with Paramount Pictures to convert the book, Furious Love, on screen. The rights have already been bought to this book which was released just recently in 2010. The authors of the book, Sam Kashner and Nancy Schoenberger had access to love letters between both the celebrities.
Until her death, the book was not much of importance for the studio which took little interest in it. Elizabeth died at the age of 79 in 2011 and Richard died in 1984. After this last Hollywood legend’s death, filmmakers want to keep her memory alive by making a film about the love in her life. She had married six other men, but being married to Richard Burton twice makes for a story Hollywood wants to cover definitely.
