A report from mobile media, JiWire, says that a lot of people are comfortable shopping and paying for items through their mobile devices. Almost 50% said that they are fine spending more than 100$ using their mobiles and some 20% said that they are fine even with spending 500$ through their mobiles. As the days go by and technology is becoming more usable, more consumers are opting for this kind of shopping.
According to JiWire, almost 71% of the people surveyed have used their phones or tablets for getting to know about the items they want to buy, and amongst them, 31% eventually bought the item in a store, 40% bought it online through a PC and 20% bought through using their mobile devices. Most of the bought items are the regular retail products and travel and entertainment services.
The data collected has shown positive results for those marketing products through mobile services. The world in this mode is really going towards digitalized economy whether more things will be bought off the racks than from them as is usual while we shop. Online shopping has really become a reality due to its convenience. This has led to Mobile commerce or M-Commerce which means more mobile banking and mobile advertising.
According to comScore, as of November 2011, around 38% of smartphone owners have bought something through their mobile device at least once. Though this percentage might seem a little, but there is a high chance in no time it will get larger.
